At the DTU Centre for Absolute Sustainability, one of our core activities is to examine how sustainability can move from concept to implementation at scale.

A central question is how circular business models can expand beyond pilot projects and become mainstream practice across Europe. This month’s CfAS lunch seminar focuses on the scaling of circular business models in Europe’s circular economy. What are the enabling conditions? Where do the systemic barriers lie? And how can policy, industry, and research interact to accelerate transition?

This seminar features:

  • Lars Fogh Mortensen: senior expert at the European Environment Agency with a focus on circular economy, sustainable consumption and systemic environmental transitions. Lars works to connect scientific evidence with European policy processes, supporting member states in developing strategies that integrate resource efficiency, environmental protection and long-term resilience.
  • Daniela Pigosso: professor of design for absolute sustainability at DTU Construct. Daniela’s work bridges engineering design and sustainability science, helping organisations operationalise circularity principles and measure the environmental performance of products, services and value chains - all while preventing rebound effects by design.
