Masterclass
Join us for a one-day Masterclass on Absolute Sustainability, taking place the day before the conference at Konventum.
Date and time: 29 September 2025, 09:00 – 17:00
Masterclass length: Full day (09:00 – 17:00). Lunch and dinner is covered by the course registration fees.
Participation limit: 45 people.
Masterclass objective: The masterclass offers guidance on how to carry out absolute environmental sustainability assessments (AESA) in practice. The masterclass will be based on the recently published guidance document “Guidance for applying absolute environmental sustainability assessment on activities at different scales”, co-developed by Technical University of Denmark, University College London and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The masterclass will involve a step-by-step presentation of the guidance, with a focus on the most challenging steps. Participants will have the opportunity to bring their individual practical AESA problems to the class and get feedback from the instructors and the other participants.
Access the guidance document here
Recommended prerequisites: The masterclass targets people who are already familiar with LCA and/or environmental extended input-output modelling and/or corporate carbon accounting and will emphasize when and why AESA diverges from existing standards and guidelines on these methods. The focus on AESA in practice makes the masterclass relevant for professionals (e.g., analysts working in industry or consultancy), as well as academics applying AESA in research projects.
